How to know if mango is ripened with chemicals

Post by Hapimom on Facebook says:

Always check where you buy your raw foods especially Mango, Plantain and Banana etc, so that you don't end up buying N500 food then use N30,000 or more to treat food poisoning in the hospital.

Some food sellers uses Calcium carbide for ripening without caring about the effects on the health of the masses.

You can buy unripe one allow it to ripe in your house because of fear of unknown.

How to identify artificially ripened fruits from Chemical-free ones

1. The bucket test.

Drop the fruits into a bucket of water and observe. If the fruits float on water, they are chemically ripened. If they sink, they are natural.

2. Check the colour

In chemically ripened fruits, the surface could have a mixture of yellow and green colours, where the green, appearing in patches, is clearly distinguishable from the yellow. But in naturally ripened fruits, it will be a uniform blend of green and yellow.

3 Taste it to identify

Sometimes this one is risky because

If a fruit is artificially ripened, when you consume it, you will feel a slight sense of burning on your taste buds. In some cases, people could experience stomach ache, diarrhoea and burning down the throat.

Remember your food is your No. 1 medicine

I Love you
